Buying an oven? Here is what you need to think about!

If there is one appliance that is vital to any kitchen it is an oven. Without an oven you are going to be incredibly limited on the meals that you can create and you can quickly become frustrated with the lack of choice when it comes to dinnertime.

Buying an oven may seem relatively straightforward, but seeing as these appliances are so needed and can be so expensive too, it makes sense that you want to try and buy the best one for your money. To help you out we have put together our guide on the main things to think about when it comes to buying an oven.

Consider your space

The very first thing that you should think about when it comes to buying an oven for your kitchen is the space that you have to work with. The last thing that you are going to want is to find that your brand new shiny oven doesn’t actually fit in your kitchen.

You will usually find that the smallest oven width that you can buy is 60 cm, so make sure that there sufficient space for the size of oven that you are going to need.

But what size do I need?

It makes sense that the next question is going to be what size of oven is going to be the best for your needs? If you have a family that needs to be cooked for, or perhaps you are the type of person who likes to cook for friends on a regular basis, then you need a larger oven.

68 litres will usually be enough space to cook for four people or more, a 45-68 litre oven will be suitable for smaller families and anything under the 45 litre mark, well that is only okay if you want to cook for one or two people at a time.

Double or single?

Another consideration that you might want to think about is whether or not you want to buy a single or a double oven. A single oven is going to take up less space, however, you will only have one oven that you can set the temperature on and cook in. If you choose a double oven then you are going to have more space to cook meals in and you can cook at two different temperatures too.

Do you need any extra features?

If you are someone who only cooks more straightforward meals, then you probably won’t need an oven that has lots of fancy features. However, if you fancy yourself somewhat of a foodie, then you are going to need to think about some of the add-ons that can really help to transform your kitchen and what you can make in there. Some of the main features that you can add in, is steam cooking and perhaps self-cleaning options too.

Making sure that you have the right oven is important not only for your kitchen, but for your family too, Take the time to think about the oven that you buy and make sure that it is suitable for what you need it to do.
